Your help is needed and you don’t need to be an experienced carpenter or even handyman or handywoman to make a difference in the lives of a needy Family.
Who: Messiah’s Handymen and Handywomen
What: Framing, siding, drywall, painting, hauling material, clean-up, etc. No tools or experience required. You will receive training and support.We're also preparing and serving lunch for our volunteers!
Where: 3584 Dick st. Avondale

Messiah is committed to helping the community and region in a variety of activities. These are a few of our Service opportunities throughout the year. Be sure to check the dates and time for current ministries. - English as a Second Language. This program helps all nationalities to learn the English language. Programs are offered to adults and includes child care. This program is offered in the Fall. Please contact the church office for more information.
- Prince of Peace. Join us for a Wednesday evening when Messiah hosts a dinner in the innercity of Cincinnati at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Check with the church office to find out the next opportunity to serve with this outreach ministry.
- Soul Ministries. Our congregation are strong supporters of the Soul Ministries outreach center. This is a ministry which provides food, clothing, and many other needs to those less fortunate. You can help by providing materials to SOUL Ministries or giving of your time through the week. Please contact the church office to find out how you can begin serving in this outreach ministry.
- Giving Tree. During the Christmas season, we offer a wide variety of opportunities to give to those less fortunate. Check out our Giving Tree to select an item to buy and provide for a family in need.
- Cincinnati Federation of the Lutheran Churches. We are strong supporters of the worldwide mission of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and her Ohio District. Through these larger organizations and the Cincinnati Federation of Lutheran Churches we are partners in supporting hospital chaplains and growing new congregations in our greater Cincinnati area.
- Kentucky Service Project. For a week in the summer families from Cincinnati go to Kentucky to serve those less fortunate by fixing homes in the area. This is a service opportunity for those who want to spend a week doing things like painting, carpentry, and electrical work. It is an opportunity for the whole family to be involved people in service. Those ages 10 to 100 are able to come and serve. Call the Church office or email

- Simple Service Saturday. Twice a year Messiah Lutheran and Wintonwoods High School partner to reach into the community and perform home maintenance projects for residents. The students head to homes in the area, painting, yard work and light carpentry for the residents.
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: This ministry is done by some of our ladies here at Messiah. The ladies make shawls that are prayed over by them and the ladies bible study. They are then given to members, friends, parents of fallen soldiers and University Hospital chaplains to remind people they are being prayed for.
